What: Did you ever wonder when the first clown made a funny? We'll never know… but we do know that these merry makers trickster characters have been around for all of recorded history. I'm bringing my years of training in American theater, Comedia Del Arte, Kyogen, Bouffon, Butoh, and SUPERDRAMA to share a historical and classic exploration of the clown throughout the world. Lecture will be interspersed with exercises and readings of ancient text. Examine the timelessness of certain humors and tempos and expand your idea of 'clowning around'!
What to Bring: Snacks and Beverages. Your funny bone.
